Have you ever wished you had your own AI Assistant ? Thanks to amazing new free AI tools, creating your own virtual AI friend is easier than ever. In this article, I’ll walk through how I made an AI assistant named DAELA in just a few hours using 100% free AI tools.

Now that you’ve seen it, let’s proceed with the first step creating your AI Assistant, which is Design.
Designing AI's Appearance
The first step was deciding on a fun, futuristic yet professional personality for my AI Assistant.Â
I had to come up with name of my assistant. I used the following prompt in ChatGPT to come up with some Cool names.
I want a smart intelligent lady name like Jarvis from Ironman but the name should have a human touch.
Beautiful yet intelligent lady AI assistant who can read news, give AI tutorials and cybersecurity updates.
Out of all the name suggested, I kind of Liked DAELA which Sounds like a feminine name, and stand for Digitalized AI Entity with Learning Abilities. I envisioned DAELA as curious, friendly and eager to learn.
To give DAELA an unique look, I used Leonardo AI’s image generation capabilities.
Those of you who are new to this AI world, I must tell you Leonardo is one of the best Free Image generation AI tool which is a close competitor to Midjourney which is a paid AI Image generation tool. If you haven’t registered yet, please register and use it for fun.
By providing a text prompt along with my professional image as reference to use image-to-image capability, I described DAELA’s energetic personality, Leonardo produced a 3D CGI render of Dayela’s face using 3D Animation style Finetuned Model. A few clicks and I had a custom avatar ready for my AI Assistant!
Giving My AI Assistant a Voice
Next, DAELA needed a voice.Â
I had couple of options here. There are free open-source huggingface model I could use, use windows voice generation or even createstudiopro software’s text-to-audio feature.Â
By the way, if you are interested in creating Animated videos for marketing, sales promotion or even for fun, createstudiopro is an awesome software to use. No monthly subscription for basic user like me. I personally use it for almost all video I create. You can use this link to checkout the tool.
However, in this instance, I have chosen Elevenlabs for their free 10000 words a month limit & more natural sounding text-to-audio feature.Â
I browsed the natural-sounding voice options on ElevenLabs text-to-speech service and found one with an upbeat, expressive tone perfect for DAELA’s persona. The voice was created right inside my browser for free.
Bringing AI Assistant to Life
The final step was animating DAELA to make her conversational. Again there are multiple options I had. However, most of the online tools I have used so far are either paid or not fit for creating long content for free.
My focus was to use a free AI Tool to use DAELA’s image to generate image-to-video output as she delivers her speech.
This is where Stable Diffusion came in. I used Automatic1111 installation on my local PC. Then I used the image-to-video capabilities of Stable Diffusion using an extension called SadTalker to generate a video of DAELA introducing herself directly to the camera.
In just her first video, DAELA already exhibits engaging expressions, lip sync, and movements matching her voice. The AI gave her a lifelike presence beyond what I could expect all within few hours of effort.
The Magic of Free AI Tools
This is just a beginning of what I want to achieve with DAELA. The next steps for me would be train her to be a real useful assistant to help me in my daily life.
While DAELA still has a lot to learn, the progress made in under a day is mind-blowing. Using 100% free AI tools, I was able to design, voice and animate an AI assistant from scratch rapidly. This opens up so many possibilities for creating your own AI companions at home just for fun.
The rate of advancement in free AI services is astonishing. In the near future, we may all have AI friends living with us – ones we’ve designed and personalized thanks to these technologies being free and accessible to everyone.
